Time: 2:00-3:00 pm

President’s Day-No School

Monday, February 20th there will be no school in honor of President’s Day.  If you need childcare for this day, please sign up at http://misamigosimmersion.com/reg-onoccasion.html.  24 hour notice is requested to accommodate your child.

Sibling Enrollment

Make sure that your child received the sibling enrollment priority they are entitled to at ISLA. Submit an online student application for the sibling of a currently enrolled student by the sibling enrollment deadline of February 14, 2017 at 4 pm.  Any student applications for a sibling received after the deadline will follow regular enrollment processes.

ISLA Technology Committee needs you!

We are currently planning for improvements to ISLA’s technology infrastructure, vendor support and various projects (such as the computer lab repurpose/replacement).  We need a few more with computer/technical knowledge to help determine needs and assess options.

If you could help via e-mail or in person (at our monthly meeting generally held the 1st Thursday of the month at 3:40 pm), please contact us at technology@isla-academy.org.

Wanted: Your Passion for ISLA!

Looking for a way to help support the mission and oversight of our amazing school? ISLA needs you! We are looking for interested community members, teachers, and parents to fill several upcoming vacancies for three-year terms, beginning June 30, 2017. No previous experience necessary, but some areas of expertise we currently need include law, finance, human resources, marketing, fundraising, or education.

Because ISLA is a charter school, ISLA’s Board of Directors operates as its own school district. The Board is responsible for overseeing the general operations of the school, implementing policies and procedures, and long term financial planning. There are a number of different committees on which Board members can serve.

Questions can be directed to Gina Rumore, Election and Nominating Committee Chair, at grumore@isla-academy.org.

If you are interested in applying, please submit a Statement of Interest to the Election and Nominating Committee by February 13, 2017. Click here for Statement of Interest 2017. A sample ballot, including nominated candidates, will be posted on the school’s website in April 2017 and the election for office will occur in connection with the annual meeting in May 2017.

Emergency School Closing

The directive to close schools comes from the office of the superintendent of Hopkins Schools as the Hopkins district provides transportation for our students.  All local stations announce school closings for Hopkins Schools in the morning before school opens and announce early dismissals due to developing severe weather.  ISLA will not be named individuallyWe are included in the announcement obout Hopkins Public Schools #270.  If school closes early, Companeros will be closing as well.  There will be no extra-curricular activities on days of early closing or no school for the day.  If there is a question as to the possibility of school being closed, please tune your radio to WCCO or other local news stations.  The major local TV stations run a continuous print-out across the bottom  of the screen to keep you informed on school closings.  You can also sign up for e-mail notification regarding closings at the following site:   http://minnesota.cbslocal.com/account/

Here is another link to sign up for texts http://www.kare11.com/closings

Please avoid calling the school during this extremely busy time.
