Edgar was born and raised in Calama, a city in northern Chile, where he had many adventures before studying at the university-- playing football (soccer), learning to play instruments, to draw and paint, and playing with live rock bands. He also traveled throughout his country and the countries of Peru, Argentina and Bolivia. He studied Educational Psychology and Education at the University of Antofagasta. Upon graduation, he received his Psychologist license. Edgar is a person who loves reading and staying informed about his chosen field. In Calama, he worked for the government of Chile and the Ministry of Education as an Educational Psychologist and specialist teacher. He worked with children in primary and secondary schools in various special education programs. His role was to diagnose, treat and work with students with intellectual disabilities, Autism, Asperger's syndrome and Dysphasia, and then he interpreted and adapted curricula for each student. Edgar worked directly with the school and parents to implement Individualized Education Plans (IEP) for each student. In addition, he worked on an individual consultation basis with children who had learning disabilities, from 3 to 18 years of age, many of whom showed improvement in their studies. . Edgar got married in Chile and then came to live with his wife and her family in 2011. Currently, Edgar works in the Special Education department helping children at ISLA succeed in the classroom, and teaches a Minecraft class in the after school program. Edgar is enjoying his job and many opportunities at ISLA and the United States.
