Laura was born in Cuautla, Mexico, which is located in the state of Morelos where obtained her college degree. In addition, she also has a teaching license from the Geography School in Cuernavaca (also located in Morelos). Before departing from Mexico for the United States she completed her student teaching program in a secondary school with children between the ages of 12 to 15. In 2008, she left Mexico and settled in Minnesota on a fiancé visa with her spouse. In Minnesota she found a job working as a preschool teacher with Mis Amigos, Spanish Immersion Preschool, and spent the next 7 years there. She has also spent four years volunteering for a non-profit organization in Minneapolis called Go Latino where she collaborated with the local Latino community. One of her core teaching goals in immersion schools is to offer children an opportunity to learn a new language. Laura takes great pride in being able to teach her native language to others as well as sharing her culture and customs. Currently she lives with her family in Minneapolis. She enjoys and loves living in the city. In the household we speak both English and Spanish because we have made a priority for our little one to be bilingual.
