Marly Wood was born in Bucaramanga, Colombia. She later moved to the capital city of Bogota and then to the city of Yopal in the Department of Casanare. In Yopal she began her work in education as a tutor teaching people in the rural areas. She then earned a degree in Child Psychology and Pedagogy. While in Yopal, she also worked in a company that specializes in Health Services as a Human Resource assistant for four years. Later she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education with an emphasis in Natural and Environmental Science from the University of Pamplona. Marly immigrated to the United States in 2014. She worked in Edina, MN as a Lead Teacher in a Spanish immersion preschool program, while in the process of getting a MN state teaching license based on her education in Colombia. Last year she began her work at ISLA as an Educational Assistant and also part of the RTI mathematics team. She is excited to be working at ISLA as the RTI Program Coordinator this year. She is currently enrolled in an Elementary Education k-6 second licensure program at Hamline University’s college of Education in St. Paul, MN. She has always been very passionate about teaching, loves children and is happy to belong to the wonderful community of ISLA.
