EARTH DAY--APRIL 22, 2023

Hello ISLA Families!

To celebrate Earth Day, we are asking students to wear a green shirt on Monday, April 24th. Also, we would like you to send us photos of your family helping the Earth. Recycling, cleaning up trash, or any other activities you participate in. Please submit the photos to: earthday@isla.school by Wednesday, April 26.

Stop, Drop and Read

El Día de los Niños/El Día de los Libros, also known simply as Día, is a celebration of children, families, and reading that culminates yearly on April 30. “Children's Day” has been celebrated in many countries around the world officially since 1925. To celebrate this day, ISLA students will stop, drop and read at 1:20 pm on Monday, April 24th.

Fundraising Committee Corner

What to do with a large blank hall wall? Create the ISLA LEGACY ART WALL! Beginning this year graduating 6th graders (and 2023 transferring 5th graders) will be able to participate. Students are invited to decorate a wall tile with their own artistic flare. Sra. Claudia will help students to craft their name in individualized designs. The mission of the Legacy Wall is to not only honor our wonderful graduating students but to also help support this amazing school by raising $250 per tile. We are asking the families and friends of ISLA to pitch in and help support these kids and their hard work. If you are interested in helping to financially support our students’ legacy please contact Abby Walker at awalker@abbeydelsol.com. Information will be sent home with 6th grade students in the coming weeks. All students are encouraged to participate regardless of ability to fundraise.

End of the Year Celebration

Save the date! The fundraising committee is planning a celebratory End of the Year gathering at ISLA on Sunday, June 4th from 3:00-6:00pm. More information to come!

Lunch Ordering for May!

The window to order lunch for May will be open until Tuesday, April 25th at 8pm.

The system won't open after the deadline date. Please make sure to order for the whole month of May or preferred days.

There's also an option for "only milk" to children that bring lunch from home.

Spread the Word

If you are interested in helping spread the ISLA word in local communities, the Marketing and Communications Committee wants to hear from you. The committee is exploring ideas for participation in area parades, community festivals, and other events. The committee isn't looking for a large commitment of time, but maybe a couple of days during the year depending on interest. Send an email to marketing@isla.school if interested in learning more.
