Field Day!

Field Day is on Friday, May 26th and it will take place at ISLA. The alternate day in case of bad weather will be Friday, June 2nd. Field Day is a non uniform day for students and I encourage them to wear sport clothes and comfortable tennis shoes. We will have two sessions for Field Day:

• Morning session from 10:00 - 12:00 for PreK - Second grade.
• Afternoon session from 1:00 - 3:15 for Third - Sixth grade.

Please make sure your kid brings a water bottle and sunscreen. Everyone is invited to come and watch!

School Board Election - May 12 - 15

ISLA's annual board of directors election will be held via an online voting platform, Election Buddy, in mid-May, with results announced at the May 16 board meeting.  All ISLA staff members and parents and guardians of ISLA students are eligible to vote for school board members.

Eligible voters should receive a unique ballot link by email on Friday, May 12 and will be permitted to cast their vote using that link anytime thereafter until 5:00pm on Monday, May 15.  If you do NOT currently have an email address on file with the school, please contact Emily Smith at esmith@isla.school to provide a current email address to receive your online ballot.  If you do not have access to email or a device for online voting, you will be able to vote in person at the school office during school hours on Friday May 12 and Monday May 15.

LA Program Needs Your Help!

We currently have 2 Language Ambassadors (LAs) on board for the 2023-24 school year and, unfortunately, this puts us far behind our goal of 9 LAs. As many of you know, LAs provide critical classroom support to our teachers and are such a big part of what makes ISLA an amazing community.  While we continue to work with the agencies who connect us with our international student interns, we are also putting out a call to action for our community. If you have any friends or family members abroad that may meet the qualifications, please consider speaking to them about this amazing opportunity.

Qualifications:

• Between 21 and 26 years old
• Ideally pursuing a degree in education or an adjacent field (music, Spanish language, etc)
• Spanish speaking
• Ability to obtain a passport
  

ISLA PTO sponsors all visa costs including attorney fees for the J1 visa process.

Fundraising Committee Corner

Don't forget to mark your calendar for this year's End of School Celebration on June 4 from 3:00-6:00pm at ISLA. This will be an opportunity for our community to gather and celebrate another great year - all are welcome! There will be food trucks, a lemonade stand, and a dunk tank (tickets for purchase). We will also have a DJ, bounce house, and other games. We are still looking for volunteers - please email Alisa Linne if you would be willing to volunteer for a time slot to help with one of the game stations, set up, or tear down.
