Meet the Teacher Open House

The meet the teacher open house is scheduled for Thursday, August 29th from 2-5 pm. Come meet your teacher and see your new classroom. Feel free to bring your student's school supplies on that night so that students do not have to bring them on the first day of school. The first day of school for kindergarten students is Tuesday, September 3rd. Grades 1-5 will start on Wednesday, September 4.

Lunch Ordering Window Open

The window to order breakfast and lunches is open until 2 pm, on Friday, August 30th. If you haven't already done so, please set up an account for your student in Boonli. Click here for instructions. We are so excited to see all our students back in the building.

2024 - 2025 Free or Reduced Lunch Applications

Your child(ren) may qualify additional benefits such as free or reduced fees. At public schools, your application also helps the school qualify for education funds and fee discounts for field trips and Wolf Ridge, if you qualify. Please complete this form and send it back to ISLA.

New Messaging System

Swift K12, the messaging system that ISLA has used for the past 2 years, has been retired and no longer supported. We now have a new messaging system call SchoolMessinger. It is still tied to our PowerSchool student information system like SwiftK12. You will be receiving a text message in the next few days for you to Opt In to receive text messages. This will allow us to send text messages regarding busing, school closing, etc.

PickUp Patrol

Great News! International Spanish Language Academy has partnered with PickUp Patrol once again to help better manage our dismissal process. A welcome letter from PickUp Patrol was recently sent to you. Please complete your child's default end of day plans so that teachers have that information on the first day of school. You can enter any changes in PickUp Patrol until 3:15 pm on school days. After that time, changes can only be made for emergency situations. TWO WEEKS TO GO!

Have you been following along with the polls on Facebook? Outside of the main ISLA Facebook Families page where general school updates are shared, there are also FB groups sorted by grade level where parents share information & contact info… Along with  polls to find out which kid  has which teacher to finally answer their forever-endless questions about who is in their class!

Not in the grade level groups? Just search “ISLA Class of 20XX” on Facebook using their high school graduation year. For example, the incoming kinder group this Fall will be ISLA Class of 2037! Please keep in mind, these are not ISLA or ISLA PTO managed groups, but we do have some amazing parents that do their very best to keep things up to date!!

Chalk the Walk! Decorar la acera!

TODAY (Thursday 8/22) marks the open house for our youngest ISLA families in El Nido (pre-k). The PTO has provided a few boxes of sidewalk chalk for our El Nido kids & parents to continue on this wonderful tradition of “chalk the walk” o… “decorar la acera”!!

The PTO Board will work to ensure chalk is replenished through next week when K-5 has their Meet the Teacher on 8/29. But if you happen to have any extra chalk on-hand, please feel free to drop it off at school (front steps or back entrances where the doorbell is) for kids, parents, etc to write notes of encouragement, draw, doodle, scribble, etc. as we try to make the “full” return to school a really warm welcome for our amazing teachers and staff!!

No need to be a professional artist– Let’s just give our teachers a smile as they walk into their full classrooms over the coming weeks. :]

PTO Board Fun!!

Yesterday evening we kicked off the year with our first PTO Board Meeting!!! It was so exciting to see so many new families hopping into the fun as the Board continues to find new & creative ways to support our kids, teachers, families and school as a WHOLE!!

Thank you so much to our AMAZING PTO Chair, Jenner Moretto for all of her work over the past few years to build the PTO to fit the new vision & needs as ISLA grew into a larger community, supporting more LAs, more teachers, more parents… More everything!! While we are so grateful to lean on Jenner for SO much support, we also must acknowledge that her youngest will be aging out of ISLA in the coming year. While we are SO lucky to have an absolutely overflowing PTO Board this year, we do know that a spot or two MAY be opening as we look into the NEXT years. If you are interested in finding out more about what this PTO Board is all about at ISLA, please reach out to Jenner at ptochair@isla.school to find out about potential opportunities to shadow our goofy team!! No obligation, but I bet you’ll learn a lot about our school and maybe even have some fun while you hang out with this crazy bunch of parents. ;P

School Supplies

Me neither, but can we work together to drop in for a bit and help organize the AMAZING school supply kits & uniform exchange items ahead of Meet the Teacher on 8/29??!

PTO Board Members will be present to help coordinate organization & provide direction to you– We promise you won’t be left on your own!! Please feel free to pop in for an hour, or maybe less– ”Many hands make light work” is the saying and over my last 4 years at ISLA, that rings SO very true. Your 20 minutes of time helping move a few boxes makes a HUGE difference to the school. If you were not able to purchase school supplies through the PTO, you can find the supply lists on the ISLA website under the Current Families tab and then the School Supplies tab. You will find a link for the school supplies on the upper left-hand side of the page.

Breakfast Bar, anyone??

The PTO Board is working to coordinate a delicious brunch for our staff on the first day of Kinder classes on Tue 9/3. While only our Kinder kids will be in class that day, ALL of our ISLA staff will be in-office to prepare & support the K-5 first day on 9/4 (lunch on 9/4 is also sponsored by the PTO Board– More info to come). Do you have a great ISLA story to share with future families?

If so, the ISLA Marketing Committee would love to have you help out at two upcoming community events, where the goal is to spread the word about the fantastic ISLA community and encourage new families to join the fold.

No previous experience necessary, just a willingness to help ensure ISLA continues to offer a robust program with a school full of eager children.

Volunteers are needed to work an hour or a couple of hours at our booths at

• Penn Fest in Richfield, 1-5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15
• Linden Hills Festival, 12-5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21
