PickUp Patrol

Great News! International Spanish Language Academy has partnered with PickUp Patrol once again to help better manage our dismissal process. A welcome letter from PickUp Patrol was recently sent to you. Please complete your child's default end of day plans so that teachers have that information on the first day of school. You can enter any changes in PickUp Patrol until 3:15 pm on school days. After that time, changes can only be made for emergency situations. for their donation to help keep us parents fed during our celebrations or commiserations!

Each grade level has an assigned color and all grades are allowed to wear black. Kids can wear these shirts instead of uniform shirts. We also have adult sizes available!

• 3rd grade - red
• 4th grade - orange
• 5th grade - purple & white (for classroom tie dye project)

WHAT’S A ROOM PARENT?!

Each year at ISLA, the PTO helps coordinate room parent helpers for each classroom. The overall goal of a Room Parent is to be a point of contact for both parents and the teacher to help streamline communications & questions without adding to our teacher's plates– We help plan class parties and sometimes organize a signup genius or email thread to coordinate parent chaperones for field trips, help make copies or other helpful tasks to keep our teachers & LAs engaged with our students!! If you already expressed interest to me via email (PTOsecretary), I’ve already got you on the list! :]  We are also working with teachers to get any parent names that were signed up at Meet the Teacher! Stay tuned next week for an update to come from our Room Parent Coordinator, Nancy Kenevan!

RENAISSANCE FESTIVAL

The PTO worked with RenFest this year to coordinate a fundraiser with the school!! For every ticket sold, you will have helped raise $5 (adults) / $4 (kids) for us to continue providing support for our kids & teachers in their classrooms and to throw more fun & FREE community events!!

So don’t miss your chance to attend RenFest this year– it runs weekends through September 29th + Festival Friday (Sept 27th 9am-7pm) Transport back in time, see unique & engaging performances, costumes & characters while you enjoy delicious food vendors– And don’t forget to grab a cup of Mead before you leave!!

Kids’ (5-12): $18.95/each
Kids 4 & under are free to attend!!

Mark your calendar for 9/15 to join us for a fun back-to-school celebration with ice cream treats for all!! Tentatively scheduled from 1-3pm at the school playground, stay tuned for more details next week!!

And when you have had your fill of ice cream fun, head over to Hopkins for the Latino Cultural Celebration organized by the ISLA-Family owned Costa Rica Ballroom!!!

Do you have a great ISLA story to share with future families?

If so, the ISLA Marketing Committee would love to have you help out at two upcoming community events, where the goal is to spread the word about the fantastic ISLA community and encourage new families to join the fold.

No previous experience necessary, just a willingness to help ensure ISLA continues to offer a robust program with a school full of eager children.

Volunteers are needed to work an hour or a couple of hours at our booths at

• Penn Fest in Richfield, 1-5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15
• Linden Hills Festival, 12-5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21

PTO Board Positions

Thank you so much to our AMAZING PTO Chair, Jenner Moretto for all of her work over the past few years to build the PTO to fit the new vision & needs as ISLA grew into a larger community, supporting more LAs, more teachers, more parents… More everything!! While we are so grateful to lean on Jenner for SO much support, we also must acknowledge that her youngest will be aging out of ISLA in the coming years. While we are SO lucky to have an absolutely overflowing PTO Board this year, we do know that a spot or two MAY be opening as we look into the NEXT years. If you are interested in finding out more about what this PTO Board is all about at ISLA, please reach out to Jenner at ptochair@isla.school to find out about potential opportunities to shadow our goofy team!! No obligation, but I bet you’ll learn a lot about our school and maybe even have some fun while you hang out with this crazy bunch of parents.
